She has published fiction in\u00a0<em>Somos\u00a0en\u00a0escrito<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Powerful Latinas Rising<\/em>,\u00a0<em>D\u00edalogo: an Interdisciplinary Studies Journal<\/em>. She was one of the featured poets in the Honoring Latina Poets program sponsored by the Hartford Public Library and Margaret Gibson, CT Poet Laureate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Roberto Alfaro (1956-)<\/strong>, a retired City of Hartford police officer, is the author of the memoir,\u00a0<em>Fighting Through Hurdles of My Life<\/em> (Halo Publishing International, 2022). Alfaro has worked as an actor and model. In his writing, he shares his journey from the South Bronx.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grace Figueroa AKA\u00a0PoeticSouldier\u00a0(1990-)<\/strong> is an up-and-coming spoken\u00a0word\u00a0poet who was born and raised in Hartford until the age of 14. She attended Hartford schools, including Hartford Middle School where her love of poetry was born after winning a writing contest. She attended\u00a0Bulkeley\u00a0High School and the University of Connecticut and served in the U.S. Army. She has performed her poetry in Hartford in places such as\u00a0the Russell, Barcelona, the Connecticut Science\u00a0Center\u00a0and\u00a0the Bushnell.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leani Lopez (1989-)\u00a0<\/strong>was born in Hartford and lived there until the age of four. She has written\u00a0<em>Slip of the Hand<\/em>\u00a0(Independently Published, 2021) and <em>Lost in the Dark<\/em> (Independently Published, 2022). She has also ghostwritten over 20 novels. She is working on the first book of what will be a series on queer pirates. She has also written\u00a0<em>To Court Death<\/em>, a\u00a0five-part audio drama.
