Sherlock Holmes, the silent film, stars William Gillette in the title role of the play he adapted from Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective stories. This film was discovered in a French film archive in 2014, 98 years after its original release and 115 years after Gillette’s first stage production of the play.
